One day's discussion
Q. What is difference between Habit and
Addiction?
Ans. A habit is generally non-destructive. A bad
habit is one that is annoying, and tends to have a negative effect, but the
negative effect is somewhat negligible. When the habit becomes damaging,
destructive or out of control, then it becomes an addition.
when it becomes a daily necessary and when one
glass becomes multiple glasses, or if there is additional stress or anxiety
when unable to obtain a drink of alcohol, then the habit has become an
addiction.
There is a difference between habit and addiction.
A habit is something we do out of convenience. We do it without thinking it
makes things easier for us or else we enjoy it. An addiction is something that
we do over and over again, despite causing harm to our lives.
Addiction:-
Addiction is a chronic disease that affects the
brain's reward, motivation and memory functions, one is substance when a person
is unable to consistently abstain from behavior or substance which dependence
on any one or more like tobaco, alcohol, drugs etc. Behavioral addition is like
gambling, using phone or internet, sex, shopping, working etc.
General things of addiction are:-
1.
Lack of control
2.
Decreased socialization like ignoring relationships.
3.
Physical effects like withdrawals symptoms or needing higher dosage for
effect.
Step to control yourself:-
1.
Take small steps to setting some rules.
2.
Stay away from temptations that help feed your addition or bad habits.
3.
Replace your old habits with new similar ones.
4.
Love yourself.
5.
Exercise.
6.
Stay close to friends and family.
7.
Practice self-care.
8.
Get involved in something you are about.
In general we can say habit is the vehicle with brake to control it, where as addiction is the vehicle without break which is out of control.
